About Friluftsrådenes Landsforbund

Friluftsrådenes Landsforbund (FL), The Norwegian Outdoor Board, is a national organization with 24 intermunicipal organizations (friluftsråd) as members. The 24 friluftsråd have 208 municipalities as members. The organization's supreme body is the General Assembly, and they have a Board with 5 members. The organization's objective is to function as an advisor for their member organizations (friluftsråd), - work for economy, knowledge about outdoor recreation and cooperate with other organizations and governmental authorities. Their main subjects are: save valuable nature for outdoor recreation, arrange outdoor areas, outdoor learning (education in nature), outdoor activities, information and promotion of outdoor recreation.

Devetaki Plateau Assoiciation reports a lot of concret results from their project with FL as partner. 11 new outdoor recreation objects are designed in the region - following the experience and best practice of the Norwegian partners for nature-friendly tourist infrastructure. Successful partnership with Devetaki Plateau Association

Visit Devetaki Plateau

FL has cooperated with Devetaki Plateau Association, Bulgaria, in developing small-size, sustainable tourist infrastucure for outdoor recreation like paths, resting places and play-grounds for children. The project is financed by Norway grants. The cooperation was finished with a visit from Bulgaria in January, but we hope for new projects. Successful Summer school at Devetaki Plateau

FL cooperates with Devetaki Plateau Association, Bulgaria, in developing small-size, sustainable tourist infrastucure for outdoor recreation like paths, resting places and play-grounds for children. The project is financed by Norway grants. Last week 18 kids took part in the Summer School at Devetaki Plateau. They had a lot of fun and get to know the plateau and the facilitated places better. Lithuanian study visit

A group from Lithuania, which have partnership with Environment Lillehammer, visited FL last wednesday. The theme for the partnership is universal design of protected areas. it was an interesting exchange of challenges and experiences. (3.5.10)

Short information about outdoor recreation

We have made simple folders in english, spanish and polish about the great possibilities for outdoor recreation in Norway, the main rules for using countrysides, coastline, forest and mountains for recreation, and with advices for outdoor recreation for your health. The folders are especially made for Friluftsrådet Vest, but will be usefull for everybody (- except the last page). (28.07.09)
